Criticism is a two-way street.

2 01 2011

What ails you?  What is that makes you feel a little less than the person next to you?  Answer that question.  Maybe your hair isn’t as cool.  Maybe your clothes aren’t as fancy, or maybe it is something as simple as not knowing what the couple you’re next to is talking about.

Of course, these uncontrollable insecurities are common, but just as they come, these days they are as easily remedied.  Our good friend “Internet” has given us an open field to discuss our likes, dislikes, and opinions on just about everything.  From blogs and journals, or facebook statuses and allisbrawl walls.

But with every opinion that you make, someone somewhere is going to have an opinion about it.  It’s important to recognize this, because most of you ****bags don’t seem to respect the opinions of others.  Now, when I say respect, I certainly don’t mean not calling them ******s.  They probably are, but it is absolutely their right to call you a jerkface for writing a blog, as it is your right to write one to begin with.

If you notice a blog where someone draws a picture, 90% of the comments on that blog will be something similar (at least) to “OMG UR SO GOOD, MARRY ME.”

But once and awhile, someone is gonna come in with that standard real talk, and tell you your artistic ability makes him want to shove an icepick through his brain stem, and as a dying wish, have someone mail their blood to the ‘artist’s’ mother so she can see what a terrible ****ing job she did raising him.

It’s fine if you want to tell them they’re wrong, and then explain why.  Hell, I’m a big fan of calling people names, then ignoring them for the rest of my life.

What sucks is how upset some of you are getting over opinions.  ****, maybe that peach player tier list you made WAS awful enough to warrant someone saying that you’re a victim of multiple head wounds.  ****, you probably are.  But if you’re going to try and make a point on the internet, you need to straighten up and realize:

NOT EVERYONE IS GOING TO LIKE WHAT YOU HAVE TO SAY.  IN FACT, SOME PEOPLE ARE VERY WILLING TO GO OUT OF THEIR WAY TO COME ON TO YOUR BLOG AND TAKE A VIRTUAL **** ON EVERYTHING YOU LOVE.

tl;dr:  If you can’t take the bad with the good, then keep your ugly mouth shut.
